H-D Rider's Edge Program, Skilled Rider Course [SRC]
DDS GMSP, MSF Experienced RiderCouse℠ [ERC]

BREAKING NEWS; January 2008, the Georgia Department of Driver Services [DDS] has authorized the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's [MSF] Experienced RiderCourse℠ as a license waiver course for individuals with a class "MP" motorcycle learner's permit and their own motorcycle.

The Skilled Rider Course is approved by MSF and meets DDS requirements.

Even if have been riding for some time or never taken a riding course, there is always something new to learn. Let us, Harley-Davidson of Cartersville (HDC) help you hone your skills and fine-tune the mental skills nneeded for survival in traffic.

The Skilled Rider Course is designed for participants who have been riding & own their own motorcycle to enhance the following skills; control at low speeds, risk management, limited space maneuvers, cornering judgement, straight line stopping quickly and in a curve, swerving and stopping, and multiple curve maneuvers. As well, you'll discuss with your peers how to manage risk, increase visibilty, optimize lane position, protective gear, motorcycle inspection & care, rider responsibility and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding. The course concludes with a Skills Evaluation and a Knowledge Test.

Supplied by the Rider Education Department

  • Confirmation letter & information
  • Educational materials and a motorcycle inspection are sent to all registered participants to start your learning and inspect your bike prior to class start date.
  • Coffee, tea, soft drinks & water {during range sessions, water only}
  • Pen & highlighter
  • On the range a cooler for your lunch & drinks

What you are required to bring

  • A street-ready motorcycle
  • Valid motorcycle operator license, endorsement, or Learner's Permit "MP".
  • Proof of valid registration to your vehicle.
  • Proof of valid motorcycle insurance for your vehicle.
  • A helmet that meets DOT specifications.
  • Protective eyewear {sunglasses are recommended}{may be part of the helmet}.
  • A heavy long-sleeved shirt and/or jacket.
  • Leather pants, chaps over jeans or jeans.
  • Full-fingered gloves.
  • Over the ankle, sturdy footwear {athletic or tennis shoes are NOT allowed}.

    The Schedule

    The course scheduled is 1 day (8:00am - 6:00pm/Range/Skill Evaluation/Knowledge Test).

  • Attendance at each session is mandatory - if you miss any session for any reason, you'll have to reschedule so you can take the course from start to finish.

    The Benefits

    After completing and passing both the skill evalution and knowledge test:

  • A completion certificate suitable for framing.
  • GMSP and Harley-Davidson of Cartersville's memorabilia.
  • May be eligible for a financial reimbursement from specific Motorcycle Groups.
  • A course completion card.
    • This card may qualify you for a discount from your insurance provider.
    • For DOD & U.S. Military personnel it may fufill your base saftet requirements.
  • We are an approved Georgia Department of Driver Services motorcycle safety program rider education facility.
    • The Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program, a division of the Department of Driver Services [DDS], imprints the MSF Experienced RiderCourse℠ Completion Card. You can present the imprinted completion card at the DDS after class {you have 90 days} to obtain your Georgia motorcycle operator endorsement [class "M"] with no further testing at the licensing agency.
    Class sizes are kept at 12 students to 2 instructors to help the learning process.

    All of instructors are current MSF RiderCoaches℠ and H-D Rider's Edge Instructors.

    Tuition
    For the entire course & all these benefits the tuition is $150.00

    The tuition is required once you are registered in a class. Fill out the Pre-registration Form and submit it to let us know you are interested in Skilled Rider Course/Experienced RiderCourse℠. Do not wait classes fill up fast and there may be a waiting list.
